Our
Story

Jessica Biscope is the founder of Lumacy Ventures Inc. — a serial entrepreneur, mom, animal lover, and believer in impossible things. Growing up on a farm, she made friends with any animal she could find (stray cats and wild gophers included). It was there she first learned the entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness that would shape her path.
After earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2007, Jessica spent several years trying to fit into the world of corporate oil and gas. But eventually, it became clear: she wasn’t meant to be someone else’s employee — she was an entrepreneur, and always had been.
She went on to own a dog daycare, where she deepened her understanding of the powerful role pets play in our lives. And later, on a spontaneous trip to Japan, she stumbled across boutique pet shops in Harajuku that shifted her vision entirely. One fashionable raincoat for Sunshine — and a quiet, undeniable feeling that she was exactly where she was meant to be — opened her eyes to what was possible. That moment sparked the creation of Lumacy Ventures Inc. and led to the eventual sale of her dog daycare.
Sunshine isn’t just a pet — she’s part of the family in the truest sense. Her bond with Jessica’s youngest daughter, who has special needs, is something extraordinary. Sunshine acts as a gentle bridge between her daughter and the world — easing social stress, encouraging connection, and offering steady comfort through everything from sleepless nights to new experiences.
She also has an entire wardrobe, lovingly chosen and styled each day by Jessica’s daughter. What began as a playful ritual has become a source of delight and connection — not just at home, but everywhere they go. Sunshine’s outfits spark smiles, conversation, and unexpected moments of joy with strangers. In ways that go far beyond appearance, she fosters confidence, interaction, and belonging. Her presence has become a foundation in their daily life — one that brings both comfort and a little magic to everyone wherever she goes.
Jessica saw clearly that pets are no longer “just” pets. They’re integrated into our homes, routines, and emotional lives in profound ways — and the market hasn’t fully caught up.
With Lumacy Ventures, she’s building more than a pet product company — she’s creating a platform for doing business differently. Rooted in curiosity, compassion, and creativity, Lumacy is a space to explore new ideas, global collaborations, and unconventional paths to positive impact. The vision is still unfolding, but at its heart, the company exists to challenge what’s expected — and imagine what’s possible.
About Lumacy Ventures Inc.
Lumacy Ventures is a Canadian-based pet products company with a vision for global expansion and collaboration.
We’re inspired by international trends, curious about what’s working elsewhere, and driven by the belief that the pet industry is ready for something more — more thoughtful, more beautiful, and more functional.
We focus on bringing products to market that enhance the joy we share with our pets — whether by making practical essentials easier to use, or offering fashion-forward accessories and apparel that spark energy, connection, and delight.
Our products don’t just solve problems — they turn heads, start conversations, and add a little more fun to everyday life with pets.
At the core of Lumacy is a belief in doing things differently. After years of building a business outside the influence of traditional systems, we’ve learned to trust unconventional ideas — and to question what others accept as the only way. We’re not burdened by corporate frameworks or outdated rules. We believe business can be instinctive, high-risk, imaginative — and deeply human.
We’re not here to follow what’s always been done. We’re here to ask better questions, create smarter solutions, and build a business that reflects how we care — for our pets, our homes, and each other.
